The previous proprietors, Warren, and Helen Tate lived a lavish lifestyle akin to royalty. They each had their bedroom, complete with a connecting parlor. The Helen Suite includes her bedroom, the adjoining parlor, and her dressing room which has been transformed into an ensuite bathroom with a shower.
The Helen Suite features two original slate fireplaces, which were once the only source of heat in the suite. The fireplaces are adorned with lithographed slate, and the bedroom fireplace is adorned with a deep oak façade. All the woodwork in the suite is crafted from hemlock, which was primarily used in the early northeastern states and imported by Tate for his retirement mansion.
The lofty ceilings, approximately 12ft, are complemented by 11ft pocket doors that separate the bedroom and parlor. The suite is adorned with an array of original stained glass and leaded crystal windows, which bathe the suite in an array of multicolored rays of sunshine in the mornings. Revel in the beauty of the Neo-Jacobean architecture, blended with modern bathroom fixtures.
