Guests can enjoy a leisurely stay and indulge in a four-course American English breakfast served on fine china. Located in the heart of the bustling nightly activity, the mansion is surrounded by countless pubs and restaurants that are conveniently within walking distance.
The Tate Mansion is a rare gem and one of the few original homes in Indianapolis' Mile Square that is still used as a residence. The mansion is a charming blend of a front brick addition from 1890 and a wooden two-story structure built in the early 1840s. Its impressive 13ft ceilings on the first floor, 12ft ceilings on the second floor, and standard 8ft ceilings on the third floor add to its grandeur. The majority of the woodwork is natural Hemlock, and the main staircase is made of oak imported from Germany. The mansion boasts six slate fireplaces that once provided the home's warmth, including lithographed slate fireplaces that are rare examples of ornate fireplaces from the Victorian era. The mansion's architectural style is Neo-Jacobean, a fusion of German Romanesque and English Tudor. Described in the Encyclopedia of Indianapolis as an early example of a mansion, Tate Mansion features twenty-five original stained glass and leaded crystal windows that add to its timeless beauty.
